Who I am

Welcome to Melodious Restoration, my name is Neil Berry and I have been working with my hands for most of my life. Picking up different skillsets, working with all sorts of materials.

In 1997 I studied Musical Instrument Technology for 2 years (full-time) at Merton Collage (now South Thames Collage) where I acquired an Advanced Crafts City & Guilds Certificate with distinction. Since I graduated in 1999 I have been repairing and restoring fretted and non-fretted string instruments.

When my very specific work became a little quiet, I started to take on all sorts of furniture and sculpture repairs as the skills I have translate well in to this kind of work. I also worked part time for a well established furniture designer/manufacturer in North West London, James Burleigh Ltd where I learned yet more skills.

With all this knowledge that I’ve acquired, I am now at this point, combining my skills to offer my services as a luthier with 26 years professional experience and as a furniture repairer/restorer in the town of St Leonards on Sea (East Sussex).
